¯\_(ツ)_/¯
[It's one of those chilly nights where the wind blows too strongly and the clouds appear dark enough to suggest a coming rain. People pull up their collars, wrap their coats around themselves, and hurry to seek shelter, but not Kiyeon. While people hurry past with anxious glances at the sky, Kiyeon's standing in the middle of the sidewalk with a stack of fliers in his hands, looking like he'd rather be anywhere but there.
He's not entirely sure how he got into this situation. One minute he'd been walking by on his way to grab a bite to eat, the next, a kid who couldn't have been older than fourteen had shoved a bunch of papers into his arms and pleaded with him to take over. Something about needing to go to the bathroom and that he had to get all the fliers out or else he'd get into trouble.
It had all happened so fast. He hadn't even gotten a chance to protest before the kid had dashed off. And Kiyeon had waited... and waited... and figured it wouldn't hurt to mindlessly pass some of the fliers out as he continued to wait.
Only it's been about twenty minutes now and a part of him knows he's been had but the other part of him tells him to stand there, that the kid could come back any minute now. And it's the latter that he decides to listen to because he's always been soft, especially for kids.
When he spots the next person coming his way, he sticks out a hand holding a flier to stop them as he tucks the rest of the stack under his free arm.]
Please take this.
[Unfortunately, he'd never bothered to check out the fliers or the fact that they were advertising a night club. Look, it wasn't his fault he was too distracted keeping an eye out for that kid to notice the scantily clad women displayed on the front.]

Right now he's only in the city to scavenge for his pack, something Dohyun does on a monthly basis. He's trying to find more thrown out items of clothing like what he's wearing right now. It's getting colder, and some of the pack needs replacements for the worn out clothing items that they've been using for awhile.
Not usually having to deal with people approaching him he starts slightly when Kiyeon shoves the flier into his hands, glancing down at the night club advertisement, and having grown up outside of polite society from age five (when he was bitten and adopted by a pack of feral werewolves) and up, Dohyun has no idea what it is he's looking at as he sees tits and ass all over the paper. ]
... Huh?
[ What kind of weird ass human bullshit... ]
no subject
People usually took the fliers and hurried off without a word, most likely ditching them in the nearest trash bin. So when he hands out the next one and the guy stops to stare at it, Kiyeon doesn't know what to do. Was he supposed to explain? The other boy clearly looked puzzled by the flier so maybe there was an obligation to help out here.
... So Kiyeon glances down at his own stack to see if he can gather some kind of coherent idea on what it is these things are about and oh. Oh no. His mouth drops open and he jerks forward, slapping a hand down over the women on the flier the other boy's holding.]
How old are you!?
[Panic laces the edge of his voice because what if this guy was a minor?? Kiyeon gives him a quick once-over in an attempt to gauge age but all he sees is... a tattered mess. And suddenly he's got more things to worry about.]
no subject
Look, he's the leader of a pack that lives in the wilderness. He's seen naked women a number of times, even if they don't really look anything like the women on the flier. It's not that shocking, just confusing. What's the point of it? Why is he being given it?
He freezes at the question though, because he honestly can't say with any certainty how old he is. He's got a vague idea, but he's lost count along the way. It's not like werewolves that live more like wolves than humans really keep calendars with them. ]
... Twenty?
[ The uncertainty is not helping him, but at least he looks ballpark the age he just guessed at. ]
no subject
That's good. You can keep that, then.
[He offers a tense smile, still uncertain about meeting another of his kind, but it falls when he gestures to... well, all of Dohyun. Kiyeon's former pack had lived in the city, close to humans. They'd made a point in blending in with them so as not to attract attention, only heading out into the wilds when the full moon drew near. To see another wolf in such a state was uncommon for him, made him think there had been trouble.
It's just like him to feel concern for a stranger and while he'd rather not stick his nose into business that wasn't his, he couldn't ignore this either.]
Did something happen? You aren't wearing shoes.
no subject
Dohyun is only used to wolves who roam free, and while older members of his pack had mentioned there were wolves who would wander into the city and never return, Dohyun had trouble wrapping his head around what kind of life they'd make for themselves here. For someone who wasn't born a werewolf it's kind of remarkable how easily Dohyun adjusted to his new life, and how hard it was to imagine ever going back to his old one. Then again, he was a small child when it all happened.
He glances skeptically at Kiyeon's own shoes, and his demeanor changes in an instant. He's not someone who seems confused and uncertain around a member of an alien species, there's a lot more confidence in his tone now, though it still sounds guarded as he gives Kiyeon a more careful inspection. ]
Why would I? They'd just get in the way.
no subject
The two of them certainly are different. While Dohyun's demeanor shifts to one of confidence, Kiyeon remains stiff and awkward. He's a lone wolf, has been for quite some time, and coming across another wolf, one that smells of a pack, has him on edge. His old pack had frequently chased off wandering loners from their territory, rightfully suspicious about a wolf without a pack... rightfully cautious about all the things that could mean.
Still, he tries for a brave face. He'd made sure that he hadn't entered hostile territory when he'd entered the city, so he thinks he's alright for now.]
Okay, [he accepts the reason easily, taking care to even his voice despite the discomfort he feels.] I thought maybe you might have gotten into trouble.
no subject
The neutrality is strange though. Usually it's easier to read if someone is friendly or dangerous pretty quickly, but Kiyeon is giving him nothing to work with. He might be more confident than he can handle this fight, but he's more on guard than ever at the possibility of a fight happening. ]
What kind of trouble involves shoes?
[ He... he's 100% serious and genuine with that question. He doesn't get it. ]
no subject
You... could have been mugged. [ And then a bit lamely, ] Shoes are valuable.
[ The longer this odd conversation draws out, the more he wants to leave. The usual insecurity of being a lone wolf becomes almost overwhelming in the face of another like him. He doesn't want any trouble and he can see the confidence building in the other wolf and it worries him. He doesn't know this strange wolf. He doesn't know what could set him off or if he really even needed an excuse to fight Kiyeon. Thankfully enough the full moon is a while away so it wasn't like Kiyeon was going to lose control if a fight broke out, but he'd certainly sustain injuries that he couldn't afford to have right now.
His only thought in this moment is to be as nonthreatening as possible, to be a forgotten speck of dust in the wind as soon as they part ways in the hopes that a pack wouldn't come after him. ]
no subject
Why are they throwing them out if they're valuable?
Better question, why does Kiyeon think that Dohyun would wear any shoes worth more than like ten dollars? Judging from the way he dresses it's pretty clear he's a bargain bin only kind of guy (or more accurately a dumpster dive only kind of guy).
At least while he's puzzling this out it doesn't look like Dohyun is going to attack Kiyeon. Not that he planned to anyway. ]
But they don't look shiny?
[ Isn't that what humans usually judge value by? Is his whole world a lie?? ]
no subject
In that line of thinking, it just makes her mad to see, and she can't stop staring at this poor guy for a good five minutes, then ten, then twenty, until she just can't believe he hasn't caught on yet. She mentions it to her two friends, but they're nowhere near as invested in the exchange as she is, and quickly change the subject.
It's really none of her business, and she should turn back to her friends and her drink and get on with her night without another thought for this poor moron, but there's just something about him...
Without thinking too much of it, she touches both friends on the shoulder as a form off goodbye, too distracted for much else, and pulls her coat tightly around her body, quickly crossing the street with her arms still folded. ]
Are you stupid?
no subject
He glances up when hears footsteps coming closer and he readies himself to pass out another flier (odd, people usually tried to move around him, not directly at him) but his polite offer dies on his lips as soon as the girl asks her question.
Okay, well. This had to be some kind of misunderstanding.]
I think you've got the wrong person?
[He smiles as he says this, wanting to ease any of the embarrassment that she might feel at calling the wrong guy stupid. Because it definitely couldn't be him. All he'd been doing was stupidly handing out fliers after being tricked into doing another person's job for them like a dumb fool.]
no subject
You wish I had the wrong person. I've been watching you, idiot.
[ She hooks a thumb back towards the bar, though with the doors closed as they are and no proof that she was ever there to begin with other than the fact that she clearly crossed the road to get to him, she could have come from anywhere. ]
You let that kid play you.
no subject
He could still come back.
[It's a weak defense, it's been over twenty minutes and he knows that she's right. The kid's probably long gone, off to play and make mischief as children were prone to do and he's not exactly sure why he's defending him when he'd left Kiyeon in this position... Getting scolded by a total stranger. There's a hesitant pause as he searches for a way to explain in a way that makes sense.]
He asked for help, I couldn't say no.
[Well, makes sense to him.]
no subject
In fact, it's pretty annoying. It's annoying because there's still so many people in the world who happily take advantage of people like this who can't help but want to help people who need it... and people who don't. She just wishes they'd try it with her so she could slap them into next week. ]
So what? You're going to stay here all night?
[ It's freezing. She doesn't even want to stand out here for another minute, even though she loves to scold people she barely knows. ]
no subject
Oh, are you worried about me? [he asks in surprise.
To be honest, he doesn't remember the last time anyone's cared about his well-being and he could be wrong here but he also can't come up with a reason as to why a complete stranger would chastise him for his stupidity.]
no subject
Do I look worried about you? Idiot. Why would I worry about you? Can't you take care of yourself?
[ Obviously not, judging by how long he's been standing out here dutifully doing a grueling job that he isn't even being paid for. He earns nothing from being taken advantage of like this, and it's so irritating. ]
no subject
Sorry, I'll try not to let it happen again.
[Kiyeon bows his head and does his very best to look properly chastened.]
no subject
She doesn't seem any too pleased to hear his apology, and feels a little like she's been made fun of, but she's even less pleased hearing him actually apologize to her. If anything, she's just as out of line! ]
Stop just standing there and letting everyone walk over you!
[ She snatches away half the fliers he's still got in his hands, pulling one from the file and shoving it into the chest of the next closest passerby. ]
no subject
Once he thinks he's got his expression under control and a few handed out fliers later, he speaks back up, not wanting to lapse into silence. ]
What's your name?
[ He'd have to do something to repay her after this and he figures introductions were in order before offering her anything like that. ]
no subject
But, as long as he isn't pointing out the fact that she's being helpful towards him, she's more than happy to help to this degree.
Whether they want it or not, the passerbys who come into her vicinity get fliers shoved into their chests, and a sour look if they don't take them themselves. It's cold, and she doesn't want to stay out here any longer than she needs to. ]
Eunjung.
no subject
Still, he hadn't been to a club in months. Maybe he'd check it out. He took the flyer from his hand and looked it over.]
Nice place to hang?
no subject
There's a familiar yet entirely unwelcome itch under his skin. He feels the wolf inside of him grow more and more restless and it's distracting enough that he doesn't catch the question from the stranger stopped in front of him. He tries to focus up to pay the other guy some attention, but he's suddenly overwhelmed by the scent before him.]
Is... is that you?
[He thinks he might be drooling a little bit. God, he's hungry.]
no subject
Anyone tell you it's rude to sniff strangers? [Watch yourself.]
no subject
Sorry, [he mumbles, ducking his head in apology.] I haven't eaten in a while.
[He doesn't know where to look as he waits for the guy to (probably) make his leave so he stares down at the flyers in his hands and, uh. That's one hell of a diversion. Kiyeon coughs awkwardly and fumbles to turn the stack over. With his head bowed, his expression is mostly hidden and thank goodness for that because he looks terribly flustered. This was turning out to be a Really Bad Day.]
no subject
Then put the flyers down and go buy a burger before you do something stupid. Humans around here are nosy.
[And would definitely pay attention to some guy acting weird and sniffing people handing out flyers. He's not being nice to this dog! He's just trying to keep his own shit on lock. He don't need no one causing trouble when he's only been in town a week.]
no subject
He glances back up at the mention of humans and he shrugs the observation off. Kiyeon's always liked humans and having lived without a pack for years, they've been company that he's learned to appreciate. He's a wolf, a social creature, he isn't meant to be on his own.]
Okay, but I need to hide these somewhere and make it look like they've all been passed out.
[And then a brilliant idea lights up over his head.]
Why don't you take half and help me? Since you're already here.
no subject
Because otherwise there's some Were that could cause trouble for him if things go wrong. Damn it.]
You little shit. [He says while reaching out to snatch half the stack right out of the other guy's hands.] Hurry up and hand those out.
no subject
Thanks. Don't go anywhere if you finish before me. I'll buy you something for helping me out, yeah?
[It's the least he could do and it was generous of a total stranger to help out. Even if he looked like he didn't want to. But that made it especially kind, didn't it? Anyway, without waiting for an answer, Kiyeon spins on his heel and hurries off to get rid of his half, but not before he quickly shouts over his shoulder,]
—And don't pass them out to minors! Check their IDs if you have to!
[Then he turns a corner and disappears.]
no subject
But hand the flyers he does. He just walks up to people and all but shoves the flyers into their hands, but it at least polite enough to thank them for looking. Most of them don't even bother to try and give them back. Size does have advantages.
He got rid of half of his stack that way and then without any attempt at subtlety just walked over to a trash can and dumped the rest in there. He looked around, trying to sense where the other Were had gone. Not that he should bother sticking around, since who knows what plans he might be trying to come up with. He could have left to get more of his pack to Hunt Tolemi with. It was a stupid idea to not move on as soon as he could.]
no subject
Great, you're still here.
[And Kiyeon's even hungrier than he was before. It doesn't help that the prey scent is so strong. He silently thanks the stars that the full moon isn't anywhere close to appearing soon, since that might've been disastrous for the both of them.
He wants to jump right into searching for a place to eat, but introductions were never made and he wants to right that.]
I'm Kiyeon. What's your name?
no subject
Tolemi. What are you planning at here?
no subject
[Kiyeon's always been friendly and laid-back, traits that were odd when he grew up in an alpha family, but it's kept him alive until now. Had he been another aggressive male, the outsider wolves would have taken him out just like they had with his father and brother.
It's been a tough road for years now, but he's never strayed too far from who he is.]
Planning? Ah, not sure, but I know a few places that are open at this hour.
[Whoop, way to misunderstand.]
no subject
Whatever. Pick a spot close. Since you're paying. [Saving his money until he gets a new job is not a bad idea either, even if he is getting a free meal from a mangy mutt who is trying too hard to be friendly.]
no subject
Kiyeon's practically trembling with the exciting prospect of food and he nods his head like an eager child. He starts leading the way, listing the places he knows off the top of his head.]
There's a chicken place down the street and not too far from there is a restaurant that serves good steak, but if you don't a mind a longer walk I know a burger place that...
[He trails off from his ramblings, eyes wide as he turns to look at Tolemi like he's suddenly realized something.]
—Do you eat meat?
no subject
And then he asks the question.]
You for real? Do I look like a leafer? If it's cooked well I'll eat it. [And he does mean well because he hates eating shitty food.] Chicken is fine. I said close.
no subject
Chicken it is.
[And it really is close. Kiyeon's mouth is definitely watering by the time he reaches the doors and he pulls one open for Tolemi and motions for him to head inside. The overpowering scent of chicken masks Tolemi's own prey scent and that eases whatever left over tension Kiyeon had been fighting against.]
no subject
But it doesn't hold him for long and he passes into the restaurant, but only as far as inside the doorway so that Kiyeon could enter, too. He wasn't going to leave his back open just like that.]
This better be good chicken, man.
no subject
There's only one other patron inside and Kiyeon says a quick hello to the restaurant owners before grabbing a menu off the front desk. He leads them to an empty table not far from the entrance and takes the seat furthest from the door. He's well aware of the apprehension Tolemi has for him and he thinks it might be somewhat comforting for the other man if an exit's nearby.]
Did you want to look through the menu? Or I could just go ahead and order if you don't mind.
[He's been here enough times to know what's good.]
no subject
[Because that's the benefit of having a very sensitive nose. Instead of seeing Kiyeon's choice of table as the kind gesture that it is, Tolemi sees the fact that his back would be to the door, so he can't see who may be coming in. So he deliberately takes the chair from one side of the table that put his back to the door and instead set it to the side of the table, so that he could see Kiyeon just as easily as he could see anyone coming from the door or behind the counter.]
Give it to me.
[He holds out his hand for the menu, because he's not trusting Kiyeon with what tastes good. This boy looks like he'll eat anything as long as it's technically food, he's not listening to his opinion on good food.]
no subject
He passes the menu over without a fuss, leaning back in his seat once that's done to make himself comfortable. Tolemi's got the right idea, Kiyeon loves food and anything edible honestly makes the list for him.]
Take your time choosing.
[It's not like he has anything important to do after this.]
no subject
What the hell is a "Bombastic Chicken-rito?"
[Who thought that was a good name for a food that you wanted to convince wouldn't ruin your intestines? Just call it a spicy chicken burrito.]
no subject
So, the dark clouds suggesting rain had finally let go. Hopefully there wasn't a downpour on the way.]
A chicken burrito, [he answers, gaze still trained on the window as he watches a couple rush by with their hands over their heads.] Careful, though. It can be spicy.
